Good Morning, Crawfordsville

Bankruptcy News:

Detriot files Chapter 9 Bankruptcy:

On July 13th, 2013, the City of Detroit declared Chapter 9 Bankruptcy. This type, "Chapter 9" bankruptcy, is exclusively reserved for municipalities to reorganize their financial obligations similar to how private companies reorganize through Chapter 11.

"Bankruptcy seems to be Detroit's only choice. Radical moves must be made to salvage Detroit's ever declining resources. Chapter 9 bankruptcy is not easy, however. Even with federal court protection, the task of reorganizing Detroit's economic and physical burdens will require extensive planning, cooperation, and sacrifice. This isn't a City problem, it's a national problem. Everybody's got to get on board to make the Detroit of tomorrow a place once again desirable to both people and businesses alike."
